Back in July, I shared a milestone with you all — we had just hosted our 100th guest. It was a huge achievement for us, and at that point, it felt like we had hit our stride in the serviced accommodation industry. Fast forward to now, and I’m proud to say we’ve hosted close to 300 guests.
It hasn’t been all smooth sailing, though. This industry, like any other, comes with its challenges. And one of the most important lessons we’ve learned is that growth isn’t just about adding more properties — it’s about making smart, sustainable decisions.
Why We’re Shedding One Property
Part of that decision-making has led us to let go of one of our apartments — a studio. There are a couple of reasons behind this move:
Profitability: The studio simply hasn’t performed as well as we had hoped. The returns haven’t justified the time and effort it takes to manage it, and we’ve realized that sometimes stepping back from a property is actually the best step forward.
Restrictions: In another one of our apartments, we’ve had to navigate Airbnb restrictions. These restrictions aren’t backed by law, but they do create an extra layer of complexity. Despite that, we’ve still managed to host over 150 guests there with just one cancellation, one complaint, and one observation — hardly anything that dents our track record.
The studio, however, is a different story. It doesn’t align with the bigger picture of where we want to go, so we’re making the call to shed it and focus on scaling in a smarter way.
What This Means for the Future
This isn’t a setback — it’s actually a step toward growth. We now have the experience, the data, and the confidence to move into the next stage. Our plan is to grow into managing five to ten properties, but this time with systems, automation, and efficiency at the heart of everything we do.
In the early days, it was about learning the ropes and figuring out how to host at scale. Now, it’s about applying those lessons, streamlining operations, and building a business that can grow rapidly without burning out.
Staying Positive and Realistic
We want to be honest about the realities of serviced accommodation. It’s not always glamorous, and it’s not always easy money. But with the right approach, it can be a rewarding business with real potential for growth.
Shedding a property doesn’t mean we’re stepping back — it means we’re clearing the way for smarter, faster, and more sustainable expansion.
So here’s to the next chapter: more guests, more properties, and a business that works harder for us rather than the other way around. We’re excited to take what we’ve learned and push forward with even greater momentum.
